ENVIRONMENTAL SUPPORT OF ONGOING PROJECTS

2008 proved to be the record year for  Environment Preservation Dept. (EPD)  in terms of engineering products' sales.

Specialists in industrial ecology employ applications and products of Ecologist series supplied by Integral and intended for calculations of air pollution, safe handling of waste and acoustic design. To ensure the most thorough and comprehensive health hazard assessment new applications were purchased from Integral, i.e. Averages and Risks. Ecologist series upgrades are acquired and implemented on a routine basis.

Deployment of MicroStation GeoGraphics Descartes software takes care of all maps and charts within digital EIAs of detailed engineering for surface construction projects.

During 2008 EPD prepared 9 programs of soil reclamation after construction of process facilities in YaNAO, KhMAO-Yugra (Syskonsynia Field) and Krasnoyarsk Territory (Sobin Field).

Bio-ecologists went to learn the new province, namely inventory of the most sensitive and vulnerable areas. Three nature reserves were surveyed in Kazan and Abat Districts. The researchers became skilled at the new winter traverse track-counting procedure.

In the course of inspection of wildlife refuges rare species were registered, including 21 vertebrates and 4 invertebrates. Among the latter is apollo butterfly (Parnassius Apollo) entered in the Red Book of every level as endangered species. To date this is the only reliably registered occurrence of apollo butterfly in Tyumen Oblast.

Botanical studies produced new data on the status of 18 Red-Book-category plant populations with 112 habitats mapped. 2 species were found new for Tyumen Oblast flora.

Observational results have been presented at 5 workshop conferences, 10 theses and research papers have been made public.
